The corporation of the City of Barrie is comprised of the Chief Administrative Office —which includes Human Resources, Internal Audit and Legal Services—and the following: Access Barrie. Community & Corporate Services. Infrastructure & Growth Management. Customer BIRTHS, DEATHS, MARRIAGES Marriage licences are not being issued at this time due to the state of emergency and a stay-at-home order. Please call 705-726-4242 or email ServiceBarrie@barrie.ca with any inquiries.Applications may also be obtained at Service Barrie on the first floor of City Hall (70 Collier Street). Licences are issued Monday – Friday, 8:30 am–4:00pm.
PROPERTY TAXES
Property Taxes. The majority of the City's money comes from residential and commercial property taxes. Other sources of revenue include user fees, development charges, grants & subsidies from other levels of government and contributions from reserves. Residential property tax bill funds are allocated to City serv ices (55%), education (13% as mandated by the Province), and the City’s service RECYCLING COLLECTION Recycling Collection. As per Barrie's collection schedule, recycling boxes are collected every week.Please sort your waste for collection and have it curbside by 7am. We have received reports of an increase in masks and gloves placed in curbside recycling bins. HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE Household Hazardous Waste. Protect the environment: bring in your household hazardous wastes (HHW) to the City's household hazardous waste facilities to be disposed of properly at no charge. Copies of the system map are available for picku p at City Hall (1st floor Info Desk), the Downtown Transit Terminal, and PROPERTY TAX BILLING NOTICES * For 2021 bills, City Council has waived late fees for property tax payments until September 30, 2021. P ayments for 2021 bills r eceived on or after October 1 will inc ur an interest charge of 1.25% per mont h (calculated on the first day of each month ). The City will continue to charge late fees on accounts with outstanding charges from 2020 andbefore.
