DANCE POSITIONS: FAN POSITION Fan Position. Description. Fan is an alternative to Open Facing Position, where man and lady are positioned perpendicular to each other with a left to right hand hold. It is specific to the Rumba and Cha Cha figure bearing the same name. Positioning. Man and lady stand apart and at right angles to each other, with the lady on the man'sleft side.

LEARN TO DANCE THE SLOW WALTZ PROGRESSIVE CHASSE TO RIGHT The Progressive Chasse to Right is a Waltz pattern consisting of 4 steps taken in closed position, danced to the counts "1, 2 and 3". It is progressive because it begins with a forward step, followed by a chasse -- side, together, then side & slightly back -- to the man's right. The lady's part is the natural opposite. LEARN TO DANCE THE AMERICAN STYLE RUMBA OFFSET BREAKS WITH The Offset Break to left is the same pattern taken in the opposite direction, whereby the man turns 1/8 to left to dance his forward rock outside partner on the lady's right side. The two breaks are often danced in pairs, and can be repeated as desired. LEARN TO DANCE THE AMERICAN STYLE RUMBA 8-COUNT UNDERARM 6. 8-Count Underarm Turn. A very popular figure with social dancers and wedding couples is the 8-Count Underarm Turn. Spanning 8 counts, or 2 measures of music, this underarm turn is decidedly unhurried, with the lady taking an easy stroll around a wide arc. The man's foot positions are nearly identical to those of a basic Rumba Box. LEARN TO DANCE SAMBA WITH BALLROOMDANCERS.COM! Man's Part. Lady's Part.
