------------------------- UPDATE APRIL 15, 2020 All-new storytime series to air weekly on Saturdays at 10AM MST on the theatre’s Facebook page. Episode 1 will air Saturday, April 18. _STORYTIME-SATURDAYS WITH ABT’S MARY POPPINS_ is a 30-minute storytime led by ABT alum Renee Koher. Renee played Mary Poppins in ABT’s 2018 production of _Disney’s Mary Poppins_. “Of all the characters I’ve ever played, Mary Poppins holds a dear place in my heart,” said Renee. “Mary is a character who emulates care, concern, but most of all love. I’m excited to bring a little piece of her to the kids each Saturday morning!” Each week’s storytime will have a specific theme and include the reading of two children’s books, learning opportunities and a simple craft project. Renee will be joined weekly by other “special guests.” Viewers can leave comments or questions for Renee in the post’s comment section. “We know people are looking for online content; especially Moms and Dads with kids at home not able to go to school or attend daycare,” said Brad York, Director of Marketing & Development.” Who better than Mary Poppins to bring a little joy (and good manners) to kids who are stuck at home during this time. Renee is such a pro and we’re so happy to be able to provide something educational and fun to our family community.” _STORYTIME-SATURDAYS WITH ABT’S MARY POPPINS_ has been created as part of the theatre’s continued commitment to serve its community during these difficult times. ABT needs the communities support more than ever before. Please consider donating to the ABT RELIEF FUND to help assure ABT can begin the journey forward after this current crisis. Led by _HYREV _instructors Mark & Lynzee Foreman, the _HYREV BOOTCAMP _is a high-octane 90-minute virtual online class session that will help kids stay in shape during this time of “self quarantine” and “shelter-in-place” orders. Each virtual session will begin with a warm-up (both physically and vocally) followed by musical instruction and intense choreography. At the end of each session, both pieces (music and choreography) will be combined to create a full-out performance. Following the session and throughout the coming week, each student can submit their performance via email to the instructors for notes and critiques – all part of helping participants become the best performers they can be! _“Kids are looking for things to do, and this can be a great outlet – both physically and emotionally. Anyone can participate, and this might just be the perfect opportunity to ‘give-it-a-shot!’ The Bootcamps are a safe environment where kids can learn and work at their own pace. More than anything, we want kids to feel like they have something fun to look forward to each week.” LYNZEE FOREMAN,INSTRUCTOR_

We ask for your understanding, but most importantly, your support as we navigate these uncharted waters. ------------------------- Dear Arizona Broadway Theatre family, After much conversation, consideration, and deliberation, at this time we find it most important to heed the recent recommendation from Governor Ducey’s office to protect the health and safety of our patrons, employees, and our community during the COVID-19 Pandemic. Effective immediately we are implementing the following changes to ourcurrent schedule:
_CHICAGO_ – On hiatus through Tuesday, March 31 (new dates into MayTBA)
_LA CAGE AUX FOLLES_ at Herberger Theater Center – Cancelled _MIRAGE: VISIONS OF FLEETWOOD MAC _– ABT Concert Series – Monday, March 16 – Cancelled _THE 25TH ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE_ – Postponed (futuredates TBA)
_MOODY BLUES – GO NOW!_ – ABT Concert Series – Monday, March 23– Cancelled
_AFTER DARK CABARET_ – Friday, March 27 – Cancelled _SUNDAY BRUNCH AT THE ENCORE_ – Sunday, March 29 – Cancelled _PIANO MEN – GENERATIONS _– ABT Concert Series – Monday, March30 – Cancelled
We will continue to assess the fluidity of COVID-19 in our community and address the next steps on a day-to-day basis. ABT and Herberger Theater Center Box Offices will be in contact with patrons in the coming days to address cancellations and rescheduling. This was a very difficult decision: weighing the importance of public health as a top priority, our financial viability, and the loyalty and commitment we feel toward our staff and patrons has been, quite simply, agonizing. While we’ve received several requests to halt all public performance, the overwhelming outpouring via phone, email, on our social platforms and at the Box Office has been to weather the storm and to stay open. Unfortunately, that is not possible at thistime.
As a not-for-profit arts organization, the coming weeks and months will be the most challenging we’ve faced in our 15-year history (perhaps even greater than the financial crash of 2008). Because of this, we ask that you consider donating the cost of any canceled performance to ABT. Your donation is vital to our future as we see our way through this unprecedented time. To donate the value of your tickets, please email our Box Office at tickets@azbroadway.org. If not making a donation there is no need to contact the Box Office. Your tickets will be automatically released, and a credit will go onto your account. This credit will never expire and can be applied to afuture production.
If you have tickets to _Chicago _or _25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee_, please let us reach out to you to discuss reschedulingoptions.
We ask for your understanding, but most importantly, your support as we navigate these uncharted waters. I wish you and yours good health in the weeks to come.Sincerely,
Kiel Klaphake, Executive Producer× Scroll to top
