TERMINATION OF TRANSFER Creators of all kinds routinely transfer rights to their works (by signing publication contracts that assign copyright to their publishers, for example). While many of these agreements last "for the life of copyright", the law takes into account that these terms can ultimately be unfair to authors and artists. This is where "termination of transfers" come in. IMPLIED LICENSES IN COPYRIGHT LAW Authors Alliance is grateful to Jacqui Lipton for this guest post on implied licenses. Through case studies and hypothetical examples, Law and Authors addresses issues of copyright law, including LAW AND ETHICS OF COPYING: COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT VS Put simply, plagiarism is the act of using another’s work or ideas and not giving proper credit, instead falsely presenting it as the user’s own. There is no statutory prohibition against plagiarism. Instead, plagiarism is governed by community norms and the consequences of plagiarism are most likely to be professional oracademic sanctions.
