I find I now have the need to buy a 2nd boat, probably a small inflatable for light usage of 10 days per year. As it will only be light usage, and not the main boat I'm looking at the lower end of the market to save some coin. Parsun Outboards pop up as a cheap engine. I have always though Chinese, cheap = trouble, but they have been around for while now, and you do see a few out on the water.CLEVER BOAT NAMES
I was coming thru Cleveland this morning after dropping the eldest at netball, when waiting for traffic at one of the roundabouts, this vehicle and boat went past. The boat was an older white glass model. About 15 feet. And the name on the side was FAR-CANAL. Strange name was the first thought. One of my slow ex country boy moments. TRANSDUCER AND SOUNDER/GPS HELP Hi Everyone Hoping someone would be able to give me some advice on a new sounder and gps set up for a new boat. I am pretty hopeless tech wise and was thinking of going a Furuno 588 and a Garmin 1022xsv. I know this gear isn't the latest and flashiest gear around but I am mainly fishing in 30 - 80 m of water from the cape to the sunny coast and an occasional trip to the bunker group. NAVIONICS VS CMAPS
Hi All I'm upgrading my sounder to either a Garmin or Lowrance. Now the Lowrance comes with Cmaps and the Garmin has Navionics which I beleive Garmin purchased Navionics. Anyway, I have only used Navionics in the past but I'm slightly leaning towards the Lowrance model due to having slightly better features BUT it does come with CMap and I haven't used it before. FUEL CAPACITY FOR 40HP YAMAHA OUTBOARD (2 STROKE) Re: Fuel Capacity for 40hp Yamaha Outboard (2 stroke) Don't use jerry cans to refuel as it can be very dangerous . Spend the extra and get a second 24l tote tank so all you are doing is changing the fuel lead and opening the vent or put a 2 way tap on the fuel line. Smaller tanks in smaller boats can also be used to trim the boat forward aftetc.

SUZUKI TRIM/TILT ADJUSTMENT Hi everyone, I am in the process of fine-tuning my 175 Zuke set-up on the back of the trailcraft. I want to be able to set the maximum height that the motor can be tilted up but I can't figure out how. Currently, if the motor is tilted too high, the hydraulic steering ram will contact the transom and potentially damage it. Can anyone explain how a maximum height can be set? WATERSNAKE V MINN KOTA (WHAT'S YOUR THOUGHTS?) Re: Watersnake v Minn Kota (what's your thoughts?) I've got a Motorguide 55lb wireless, I've only got about 15hrs up on it so far but it has performed flawlessly. The wireless feature is excellent. I looked at the W/Snakes but they looked to be awfully plasticy to me, hence the cheap price though.WHAT SIZE ANCHOR
Hi all Opinions please on the size anchor for a 5.2 metre boat. I currently run about 3.5 mtrs of chain and an 8lb anchor which I don't think is big enough. Seems to hold ok until we get abit of current in certain places and then we seem to start to drag. Was thinking of going up to 10lb- 16lb. What would you guys suggest to be suitable.FLIGHTCRAFT BOATS
Re: flightcraft boats. A good boat that is very popular in VIC. Very beamy, just like its little brother the 4.75 (which came in a cuddy and a runabout). The 5.4's hold their value quite well and in VIC can typically fetch 15K or a bit more. Up north it should be severalthousand cheaper.
YOUNGBLOODS FROM YOUTUBE, WHERE ARE THEY LOCATED/FILMING? Apparently they shoot their videos all over the place - incl the east but I think the majority are filmed along the mid western Australian Coastline. It's actually a shame that these Youtubers generally don't tell you where they are filming - that's the refreshing thing about"Fishing the Wild".
WOLLONGONG - AUSFISH.COM.AU Re: wollongong. there is a million (well almost) places to spearfish around the Illawarra (Wollongong) places like (from the shore) around Hill60, the front of Wollongong lighthouse, although the water can be murky there, Bellambie bombie, almost anywhere, and as per usual, the harder a place is to get to, the better the spearing.NORCAT BOATS
Re: Norcat boats. Originally designed and built by Alan Christianson in Townsville, and then taken over by guys on the gold coast. I took one for a run 15 or 20 years ago and left it alone. BEST CURRENT 40HP OUTBOARD? Hi guys I know i'll probably get 5 guys with 5 different answers but i was wondering what would be the best overall current 40hp outboard on the market at the moment, looking to upgrade the tiller steer on a stacer 428 nomad, open to all brands but mainly looking at evinrude etec, yamaha and mercury in four-stroke since these dealers areclosest.
MARKHAM WHALER PRO'S VS CONS Re: Markham Whaler Pro's vs Cons. the 4.9 was an OK boat, not great, but OK, not too sure why you wouldn't feel safe in it?? be a thousand times better/safer than (say) a 4.9 Quintrex once they got to about 5.5M they were much better, anything smaller was just OK. 02-04-2015, 10:49 AM #5. NUDGEE BOAT RAMP
Hi guys New to Ausfish and new to boating, got my first boat a month ago. I have been using Pinkenba boat ramp but used the Nudgee boat ramp for the first time on Sunday. Found it a lot easier and am planning to use it most of the time. My question is around the mouth of Nudgee Creek. It was getting a bit shallow when we came back in and having walked the dog out there a few times I HOW TO TRADE IN A 2006 E-TEC 50HP DPL? OR PRIVATE SALE? Im wanting to keep my hull but wanting to refresh my engine. These E-Tecs were as high as $12k at one stage. Given like nearly every Etec its lower cowling bolt holes have snapped off, they will need plastic welding or replacing ($1200 new in NZ, but sure much cheaper in Aus or circa $400 used). It has done 180 hours and has been serviced everyyear.

Re: Norcat boats. Originally designed and built by Alan Christianson in Townsville, and then taken over by guys on the gold coast. I took one for a run 15 or 20 years ago and left it alone. Way too low in the tunnel, too blunt under the bow, and got covered in water spray on the flybridge every wave. LOGAN RIVER MUD CRAB TIPS Logan River Mud Crab Tips. Went for a bit of a crabbing/fishing trip up the logan today, battling the rain and wind squalls which was lots of fun. Dropped pots in around 6am (at spot X) and started fishing at around 7am with it pissing down rain. Used variety of baits including prawns, squid, pilchards and mullet to no avail, just some SUZUKI TRIM/TILT ADJUSTMENT Hi everyone, I am in the process of fine-tuning my 175 Zuke set-up on the back of the trailcraft. I want to be able to set the maximum height that the motor can be tilted up but I can't figure out how. Currently, if the motor is tilted too high, the hydraulic steering ram will contact the transom and potentially damage it. Can anyone explain how a maximum height can be set? TELL ME THE BAD THINGS ABOUT POLYCRAFT Re: Tell me the bad things about polycraft. Yeah i went for a spin in a 6mtr job about a year ago it was fairly rough we could hear a noise from under the floor it sounded like the outer hull was flexing and hitting the inner hull with a bit of a dull thud noise. They are a good idea if you can't wash them down often say in a remote area.Doing a WOLLONGONG - AUSFISH.COM.AU Re: wollongong. there is a million (well almost) places to spearfish around the Illawarra (Wollongong) places like (from the shore) around Hill60, the front of Wollongong lighthouse, although the water can be murky there, Bellambie bombie, almost anywhere, and as per usual, the harder a place is to get to, the better the spearing. FISHING KURRIMINE BEACH Hi, I was hoping to get some idea of the possibility of fishing Kurrimine Beach near Innisfail using a 12 foot car topper launched off the beach boat ramp. I would be only going offshore a couple of kilometers providing the wind was calm. There is a shallow reef in close to shore. I was planning to go in September I am hoping someone who has done this may be able to give me some hints. BEST SOFT PLASTIC FOR WHITING Re: best soft plastic for whiting. I would have to say that i've had most success with the 3" gulp minnow work in pumpkin seed. If specifically fishing for whiting or bream on flats i either sight cast or work edges of weed or yabbie beds, fishing with 1/28 hiddenweights.
