The Sower is a classic sculptural theme that AVL executed in a style that combines Russian constructivism — championing belief in engineering and Flemish primitivism, that portrays man as subjected to nature.. They are considered highly intelligent, are adaptive if the environment changes, agile and sensitive, and very able to take care of themselves. Considering these positive notions, one could easily see the human side of the animal. THE SOWER - ATELIER VAN LIESHOUT The Sower 2018. Concrete, steel. Farmers depend on the earth and submit to it, but they also try to shape and manipulate nature. The Sower is a classic sculptural theme that AVL executed in a style that combines Russian constructivism — championing belief in engineering and Flemish primitivism, that portrays man as subjected to nature.. The Sower (2018) was part of the following exhibition(s): WOMBHOUSE - ATELIER VAN LIESHOUT Wombhouse is a utility unit that acts as the technical core for a house. The womb is not only every human’s first dwelling, but also the only human body part that can be inhabited by another individual. Prefabricated, the technical core contains all of the essential functions of a building: sanitation, kitchen, heating, ventilation. PUBLIC ART - ATELIER VAN LIESHOUT Atelier van Lieshout will create farms for the future, but also from the pre-history, the year zero, the Middle Ages, the Golden Age, and post-war modernist utopia. The final goal is to create a larger than life farm which consist of all the individual farms, connected by tunnels, corridors, doors and hatches. BIKINIBAR - ATELIER VAN LIESHOUT BikiniBar 2006. A double-decker toilet for environmentally friendly composting. Faecal matter falls into the elongated container. The Composttoilet is a very low-tech yet very efficient way of recycling human waste.
