Art Therapy Benefits for Anxiety & Stress at Work. Our nation seems like it's always in the grips of a stress epidemic. Stress and anxiety are disorders that affect more people than ever before, with research suggesting that work related stress costs the American economy $300 billion each year as a result of related health care costs and missed FEATURED ARTISTS & ART THERAPISTS Lee George – Featured Artist from Australia. This month’s Featured Artist is no stranger to Art Therapy. We’ve written about her wonderful work in the past about how she created a program to help indigenous women in Australia recover from trauma. You can read her CANADIAN ART THERAPY SCHOOLS & PROGRAMS Hi David, pretty much every program I have seen in Canada, you need a bachelor’s degree to pursue a diploma/Masters in art therapy. Most of them do not care what the concentration of the degree is, but require a minimum (anywhere from 3-6, sometimes specific, psychology courses) and sometimes they require you to have actual studio credits as well (which it sounds like you have). WHO USES ART THERAPY? Someone who has mental health problems uses art therapy. Someone with learning disabilities or difficulties can use art as therapy. Children or young adults having problems in school can use art therapy. Kids, teenagers, or adults with personal problems can benefit from using art therapy. People with more serious issues can make use of art ART THERAPY FOR SENIORS & ELDERLY Art therapy can be a useful and fulfilling activity to help those who suffer from Alzheimer’s disease. It can increase the quality of life for those suffering and become a way of expression, even after other types of communication start to fail.
