So I mixed it with another favorite, Provence Chalk Paint. Both are great colors and create a gorgeous blue when mixed. HOW TO USE GEL STAIN (AND MANY PROJECT EXAMPLES!) If you have a shiny finish, you will need to lightly sand it with about a 320 or so grit, sandpaper or sanding block. The best rule of thumb, for almost anything you are “reviving”, is to at least quickly run the sandpaper over the finish before applying 10 IDEAS FOR FABRIC INSPIRED PROJECTS (1 YARD OR LESS Ten ideas for fabric inspired projects. I hope these helped visualize all the things you can do with 1 yard of fabric, or less. So many things and these are only just a few. Do make sure your paint is not too thick and try to apply evenly. You want it to “soak in”. Several light coats are better than one heavy one. HOW TO REMOVE PEELING PAINT FROM DOORS & TRIM (WITH THESE Smoothing out anything that was left behind and creating “tooth” for the primer and paint to adhere to. Be very sure you remove all of the shine or you will potentially have the same problem again. Wipe down all the doors before moving onto the next stepprimer. One of the “problem” doors sanded and ready for primer. HOW TO CREATE FAUX VERDIGRIS (SO SIMPLE!) Learn how to create faux verdigristhe easy way! So simple but gives such an elegant and realistic look. I’m back today to share one of two tutorials I promised in this post I shared last week: “How To Paint Light Fixtures (without taking them down!)” If you missed that post, pop on over and see the tutorial I did in that post for changing the color of your light fixture with paint COASTAL STYLE CHALK PAINT MAKEOVER (SIMPLE WEATHERED Here it is pretty much done (except for the white painted base). I sealed this part of the Chalk Paint makeover with 2 coats of high performance top coat, sanding lightly in between coats for a smooth finish. The base got 2+ coats of white “chalky” paint and a finish coat of the same sealer. WEATHERED WHITEWASH FINISH WITH CHALK PAINT (OLD IS NEW Here’s how to make the weathered whitewash finish: I start out by covering the already colored wood frames with the “Coco” color. I only did one light coat and you can see the green a bit through the paint. It actually doesn’t look “green” though, just dark whichis
GIVERNY CHALK PAINT CHEST MAKEOVER WITH WHITE WAX And while the Giverny is an absolutely gorgeous color all on it’s own, I thought it was a tad bright for the direction I was going with the chest. So I mixed it with another favorite, Provence Chalk Paint. Both are great colors and create a gorgeous blue when mixed. I HOW TO WHITEWASH METAL (LAMP BASE AND SHADE MAKEOVER This is the white chalk paint I used. I love it and use it all the time. Next, take either a paper towel that is just slightly damp, or a soft rag, and wipe away most of the paint. Be sure you don’t wipe so much that you take it all right back off. ;) You want to leave some behind in the all the crevices. HOW TO MAKE A DIY WOOD COUNTERTOP (EASIER THAN YOU THOUGHT The wood dipped down in the seams. If you like that look, then you can skip the “ripping down the wood” step. Next we brought it in and pieced it back together in place. Sadly, I don’t have a photo of it clamped (with 4 – 3 ft clamps) here but this is where we clamped andglued it together.
