CLIENT SOFTWARE
Client Software. The original APRS application. Specialized versions are also available. While not directly APRS-IS capable, it sets the standard for APRS packets. Data stream filter application. GUI with multiple map types. APRS-IS logging application. GUI client for Windows Mobile and Windows 32 & 64 bit OSes.EMAIL SERVICES
EMAIL Server (EMAIL) The easiest way to send email is to send a message to EMAIL with the recipient's email address as the first "word" of the message. You may only send one line messages (67 total characters maximum). Send APRS message "email@address message text" toEMAIL.
APRS SERVERS
APRS Servers. Listed below are all known (to me) APRS servers. Please contact me at pete@ae5pl.net with any corrections. I have listed only the primary full feed port when other standard ports are supported. javAPRS users will normally want a port with a history dump. All bidirectional client software MUST use ports that do not have ahistory dump.
CALLSIGN LOOKUP
The two methods discussed here rely on the QRZ.com web site lookup. The easiest method is to send an APRS numbered message to WHO-IS with the callsign as the only text in the message. This returns a one line message with the information you are looking for. If you want full information, add "f " before the call to get a multi-line response. SEND-ONLY PORTS AND FORMATS Send-only Ports and Formats. With the introduction of javAPRSSrvr 3.15b01 (August 2009), two new port types were added for APRS-IS connected trackers, weather stations, and other send-only APRS clients to connect to. These ports, HTTP and UDP, provide a mechanism for the client to send a single packet of information to the server for relayto
SERVER-SIDE FILTER COMMANDS The server-side filter uses decimal degrees for latitude and longitude. The command "filter default" resets the filter to the predefined filter for that port. The filter command may be set as part of the login line, as an APRS message to SERVER, or as a separate comment line (#filter r/33/-97/200). The preferred method is to setthe command as

IGates must use the 3rd-party format on RF of. where GATEPATH is the path that the gated packet is to follow on RF. This format will allow IGates to prevent gating the packet back to APRS-IS. The format of the 3rd party path (TCPIP,IGATECALL*) is mandatory; APRS-IS paths MUST be removed before gating to RF. q constructs must never appear on RF. CQ SERVER - APRS-IS
CQ Server. CQSRVR is an APRS server designed to facilitate initial contact between amateur radio APRS stations (hams) worldwide with similar interests. It is not a messaging server, BBS, or any other type of interactive forum. It is a global service and requires unique callsign-SSIDs to be used. It is designed for simplicity andconsistency of use.
DSTARMONITOR
DStarMonitor was developed in 2006 to provide database reporting on the Icom D-STAR repeaters. To do so, it utilizes PCAP to passively monitor the communications between the Icom repeater controller and the Icom gateway server. It is written in Java to allow for porting to other platforms and to be integrated with javAPRSSrvr.D-PRS CALCULATOR
The D-PRS CallSSID can be used to look up your station on any APRS-IS database. MyCall. 8 Char Max. Right Space Padded. D-PRS Symbol. GPS (C1) Message. Not Valid D-STAR Callsign. Clients may request that their feed from the server be sent via UDP instead of TCP. This significantly reduces the IP traffic between the client and the server as there is no acking that occurs. To make use of UDP, the client must tell the server via the TCP login line which UDP port it is listening on.IGATES WORLD-WIDE

APRS-IS (Automatic Packet Reporting System-Internet Service) is the common name given to the Internet-based network which inter-connects various APRS radio networks throughout the world (and space). APRS-IS is maintained and operated by volunteer Amateur Radio operators to provide world-wide capabilities to the AMATEUR RADIO APRS RF networks and to promote the Amateur Radio service as a whole. Because the primary function of APRS-IS is to support AMATEUR RADIO APRS ON RF, the following must be kept in mind by users and software authors who inject packets directly into APRS-IS: * It MUST be assumed that every packet on APRS-IS will be gated to or was gated from RF. This means that beacon rates, packet contents, etc. MUST be considered to be acceptable for RF. * If you want to inject non-amateur radio content, use the FireNet local-only port to prevent the packets from entering APRS-IS. FireNet exists to give amateur radio operators and authors a place to inject non-amateur radio information such as METAR reports, detailed earthquake reports, etc. for FireNet users while not adversely affecting APRS-IS. FireNet users still HAVE FULL ACCESS TO APRS-IS IN ADDITION TO the FireNet local packets. * Do NOT inject non-amateur radio content falsely identifying it as amateur radio stations. Use APRS Objects instead. APRS Objects are specifically apropos for non-amateur radio information. * Beacon rates should be set apropos to as if the station was on a busy RF frequency (NEVER FASTER THAN 1 minute for mobile, 5 minutes for weather, 10 minutes for local infrastructure (repeaters, for instance), and 20 minutes for fixed stations). * Authors, do NOT hijack another software's TO call (APxxxx). If you don't understand APRS and APRS-IS, don't design software to falselyidentify itself.
* AUTHORS, YOU are RESPONSIBLE for issuing passcodes to amateur radio operators ONLY. Do not make this available in an ondemand fashion nor point your software users to someone else. This web site is your gateway to APRS on the Internet. There are technical specifications for software authors. There are links to various software products available to link into the APRS-IS feed. There are links to online services available to APRS users and to web users. Please browse around and discover the fun! APRS Community Powered ByRingsurf
