MONDAY, APRIL 16, 2018 PACIFIC RIM UPRISINGHey all,
had some time on the new Pacific Rim Uprising film working as a creature designer. I did this job through Weta Workshop and worked with Greg Tozer and Leri Greer on the 3 main Kaiju as well as the Mega Kaiju. Greg Tozer had a big influence over most of the Kaiju and the Kaiju in their final forms look pretty cool! The kind of job you wish you were on always. Check out my website for more. Pacific Rim Uprising artwork Posted by androobakerat 6:48 PM

FRIDAY, APRIL 6, 2018STILL
Hey Everyone..
for anyone who still looks at blogs these days!? I've had a bit of a gap between work and decided to spend the day doing a personal piece. I called this one "Still" and imagined him patiently waiting in the water for a delicious fish to swim by to snatch up. Posted by androobakerat 3:59 PM

WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 12, 2016 CLEVERMAN - THE NAMORRODOR I was recently lucky enough to work on the Creature Design for the new series, which is out already and I recommend checking it out if you can, called Cleverman  made by Pukeko Pictures .  I worked at WetaWorkshop along with Leri Greer who oversaw the project as well as getting to collaborate with Ryan Griffen who created the show and Jake Nash who were fantastic to work with.  I learned a lot about Aboriginal culture and felt fortunate enough to be apart of this team. Currently been working on Season 2 which looks to be just as good! Posted by androobakerat 10:05 PM

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 25, 2016UNUSED ORC CONCEPT
Digging through old files and found this unused Orc concept from 2011 that was done for The Hobbit Trilogies. Â Was pretty happy with the design even though we changed direction for the film so I thought I'dshare.

CHILDHOOD'S END - KARELLEN DESIGNS In 2014 I got to be apart of the team that worked on Arthur C. Clarke's Childhood's End TV adaptation.  I worked up the designs at WetaWorkshop and the incredible team at Makeup Effects Groupcreated the
suit that Charles Dance would perform in. Â Please check the Makeup Effects link for more production stills and videos, they did an incredible job! Â It was such an honour as well to find out Charles Dance was going to be doing the performance of Karellen. Â I loved the book and felt he was a perfect fit as well as Tywin Lannister being one of my favourite villains of all time! Here's a small sample of the work that got done as well as the final concept (attempting) to put Dance's likeness into the design. Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Paul and Nick with Charles in the final make up. Â Amazing job! Posted by androobakerat 3:22 PM

SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 27, 2016DRAGON'S
Time to dust the ol' cobwebs off this blog with a couple of new pieces... well one new one at least! This fella was done as a pitch piece for a film still in production with Director Biz Crummett, she was kind enough to let me show the piece which was done in 2o12. Â Stay tuned for that project with moreto come!
... And THIS fella was just to do a dragon piece again. Â I used some 3D and painted over the model from a Keyshot render. Posted by androobakerat 9:36 PM

TUESDAY, DECEMBER 8, 2015BAD SASQUATCH
I had almost forgotten about these fella's from 2011! Â Unused dark and moody designs for a bad sasquatch. I should add that this isn't how I see Sasquatch (real or not) but was following the brief of this character being an antagonist... Would like to do a version someday of a more peaceful creature. SUNDAY, JULY 19, 2015THE GUARD
A new personal piece which was based on a design I've been working on for my own project.  It will be featured in the next volume of White Cloud Worlds  which I'm very proud to be apart of.  The book will feature a lot of amazing talent from all over Aotearoa.  There'll be a kickstarter being launched soon as well but more news on that to come. THURSDAY, MAY 28, 2015GREYGOO
Really stoked to be able to share some of the work I contributed with the WetaWorkshop Designteam to
GreyGoo .  We worked with SixFoot  and Petroglyph to help fill their world with aliens, humans, industry... you name it! I was mainly involved with the alien design and their physiology. Really happy how loyal they were to the design in the final and while I haven't played the game yet, I hear good things, and the cinematics look incredible! Posted by androobakerat 5:20 PM
