About the K-25 History Center. The Manhattan Project was a massive wartime effort shrouded in complete secrecy – most of the K-25 workers did not even know what they were building! Their mission: build the first atomic weapon before Nazi Germany and end World War II. To ensure victory, secrecy was paramount. No one could know of OakRidge.
