Educator Networks America Achieves launched and led the Educator Networks, including a Global Learning Network and state and national Educator Fellowships, to leverage and share the expertise and ideas of outstanding educators beyond their schools. The networks empower educators to shape education decisions—from policy to instructional practice—and build the knowledge base of what works. JON SCHNUR - AMERICA ACHIEVES Jon Schnur serves as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of America Achieves — a national nonprofit organization he co-founded, focused on bridging the gap between education and work in a rapidly changing economy. Since 2011, Jon has also served as Bloomberg Philanthropies’ lead outside advisor on education and skills. America hasn’t built the ladders needed for most students to reach their choices of higher learning, high-opportunity jobs, and life purpose. These ladders must include effective guidance, social networks, adequate and fair financing, and quality programs that enable the knowledge and skills, wrap-around supports, and a concrete plan of action directly aligned to a student’s goals. * 28The percentage of U.S. jobs in 1973 filled by workers with post-secondary education. * 22The increase in the number of cognitive, non-routine jobs, requiring deeper learning and critical thinking, since 1988. * 99The percentage of new U.S. jobs created after the Great Recession filled by workers with post-secondary education. ACTION TANKAMERICA ACHIEVES IN ACTION We built an “Action Tank” to make direct impact and inform systemic change, enabling everyone the opportunity to succeed—with a focus on low-income learners and learners of color. We identify exceptionally promising leaders and innovations. We provide long-term incubation to build, grow, and eventually spin off initiatives that directly impact underserved learners. We use these experiences and other research to inform our advising and our recommendations for philanthropy, systems change, and public policy. We do this work across three focus areas.__
