NALBINDING PATTERNS
Nalbinding Patterns. Nalbinding is generally worked as you go along, measuring the circumference of your head, your foot, your hand, and trying it on as you go. The size and number of stitches to use, vary greatly depending on the yarn that you use, and the size of your thumb, (as the stitches are wrapped around your thumb during theneedling).

COUNTER BALANCE LOOM SETUP Counter Balance Loom Setup. The distance between the notches on the horses is 6″. To check that the tie-ups to the shafts are also perpendicular, they should also be 6″ apart, and the texsolv cords should be at right angles to the upper shafts. Sakiori Rag Weaving. Sakiori is a traditional Japanese technique of rag weaving. In Japan, rag weaving is known as Sakiori and has been used to weave traditional kimono. The rag strips are cut quite finely and woven into a tweed-like fabric. fabric. Sakiori is woven from strips of old fabric and is commonly used for work clothing.FINN WEAVE PICKUP
Move the pick-up stick to the reed and weave the upper layer – shaft 1. 3. Raise shaft 2 and weave the second upper layer yarn. Remove pick-up stick. 4. Pedal # 7 – shafts 1 & 2. Bird’s Eye drafts are one of my favourite types of drafts. There are several variations of threading and treadling that you can choose from. Bird’s Eye can be woven with very fine cotton and linen yarns for placemats or tablecloths or thicker wool for cozy blankets. LOOM CARE – ALLFIBERARTS 2. Rust can be cleaned from reeds with powdered pumice. Using a stiff brush and pumice, scrub the reed to strip the rust off. Then oil the reeds well. 3. Tighten all bolts and screws securely. SPINNING CURDS AND WHEY Kromski Polonaise Spinning Wheel. Milk casein fibre is made by separating the oils and fats from the protein. The curd is rinsed, dried and dissolved to form a ‘dope’ that is pushed through spinnerets into an acid bath that forms the fibre. The fibre goes through further salt and formaldehyde processing to soften and improvethe quality.
10 STEPS TO WARP: SETT Yarn Sett. In this example, the 8/2 cotton yarns are wrapped around the ruler at 20 epi and 28 epi. The sett may be adjusted up or down depending on the type of cloth that you are making, the yarn, the pattern structure and the desired drape of the fabric. Krokbragd is usually woven in stripes of 3 colours. Other colours can be added to the pattern sequence but using only a maximum of 3 at a time. The treadling sequence doesn’t vary. It is woven in a repeat of 12, 23, 31. A multitude of design possibilities is available to the weaver by varying the placement ofthe weft

Huckaback. Huck Lace Weave. An alternate method of threading Huck is to change the shaft order. Shaft 1 becomes Shaft 2. Shaft 2 becomes Shaft 3. Shaft 3 becomes Shaft 4. Shaft 4 becomes Shaft 1. The ground tabby is then woven on 1 and 2. The pattern is woven on shafts 3 and4.

SPINNING CURDS AND WHEY Kromski Polonaise Spinning Wheel. Milk casein fibre is made by separating the oils and fats from the protein. The curd is rinsed, dried and dissolved to form a ‘dope’ that is pushed through spinnerets into an acid bath that forms the fibre. The fibre goes through further salt and formaldehyde processing to soften and improvethe quality.
10 STEPS TO WARP: SETT Yarn Sett. In this example, the 8/2 cotton yarns are wrapped around the ruler at 20 epi and 28 epi. The sett may be adjusted up or down depending on the type of cloth that you are making, the yarn, the pattern structure and the desired drape of the fabric. HULA HOOP WAGON WHEEL Historically, circular rugs were woven on a wagon wheel. You can also use a bicycle wheel, hula hoop or other round frame. To check that the tie-ups to the shafts are also perpendicular, they should also be 6″ apart, and the texsolv cords should be at right angles to the upper shafts. FELTED MITTEN PATTERN Machine wash in hot water with strong soap (it takes 3-6 washings) and lay flat to air dry. Insert hand in mitten between washings and stretch to shape. Stop felting when they fit! Warm rinse. Once felted, wash like other fine woolens. Use a stiff brush to raise the nap.COUNTERMARCHE LOOMS

Measure the sandalwood (200% WOG) into a small dish. Add alcohol to cover and let stand for 30 minutes. Put treated Sandalwood into a nylon stocking and add into dyepot filledwith hot water
WEAVING – TABLE OF SETTS – ALLFIBERARTS Weaving – Table of Setts. The sett of your cloth can vary, depending on your yarn and the desired drape of your fabric. Below is a table of recommended setts. To achieve the correct result, it is best to sample. Weave a small section, and wash your sample before continuingwith your project.

Rust can be cleaned from reeds with powdered pumice. Using a stiff brush and pumice, scrub the reed to strip the rust off. Then oil the reeds well. 3. Tighten all bolts and screws securely. COUNTER BALANCE LOOM SETUP Counter Balance Loom Setup. Start at the top of the loom and locate the centre. This Glimakra loom is 60″ wide, so the centre is at 30″. Now locate the centre point from both edges to the centre. This is where the upper pulleys for the shafts should be placed. WEAVING DRAFT BIRDSEYE Weaving Draft Birdseye. Birds Eye Draft. Bird’s Eye drafts are one of my favourite types of drafts. There are several variations of threading and treadling that you can choose from. Bird’s Eye can be woven with very fine cotton and linen yarns for placemats or tablecloths or thicker wool for cozy blankets. LOOM CARE – ALL FIBER ARTS 2. Rust can be cleaned from reeds with powdered pumice. Using a stiff brush and pumice, scrub the reed to strip the rust off. Then oil the reeds well. 3. Tighten all bolts and screws securely. If bolts are loose, this can cause permanent damage to the loom, with the excessive beating that a loom has to withstand.HANDWEAVING
