COLOR THE BUG FREE PRINTABLE EMERGENT READER BOOK Thanks to a bout of good weather this spring we have been outside observing lots and lots of bugs and I have good news to report that the ladybugs from last year have returned and have already started laying eggs (see our Instagram picture of a ladybug laying eggs 16 CREATIVE WAYS TO MAKE BUG CRAFTS WITH KIDS The weather is warming up and the bugs have started crawling, flying, and buzzing around keeping my kids busy on bug hunts. They include a practice page, tracing lines, guiding arrows and stop signs, and phonics pictures for bonus learning. We have been enjoying feeding geese, ducks, and birds that are busy caring for their new babies so today I am sharing Bird crafts and activities the kids will love like bird seed slime (it’s so cool looking!), bird science activities (let’s learn!), and bird crafts including a peacock WHO LIVES IN THE OCEAN? Continue until all the plants have been measured. My kids laid down next to the string to compare their height to the plants height. First we measured plants that were only inches tall with the ruler. POP ROCK BALLOONS: EASY SCIENCE EXPERIMENT WITH CANDY Today’s science experiment is super simple that should capture your kids attention like it did mine (you can see it on their faces in the pictures below). This activity is awesome because it involves candy, balloons, and soda-the perfect kid pleasing combination! This activity was inspired by Steve Spangler’s Pop Rocks Expander science activity. Have child paint their coffee filter and set it out to dry. The darker the paint the better because it does tend to lighten as it dries. 2. Print out the animal pattern on dark blue or black paper and have child cut them out. 10 AWESOME SUMMER SENSORY PLAY ACTIVITIES FOR KIDS The kids and I have been enjoying all things Summer like sand, ice, mud, ice cream, and flowers so I thought I would share with you some favorite Sensory Play Activities inspired by this season. Some of the activities aren’t messy at all and some are perfect for getting the hose out to handle the clean up afterwards (I am sure the kids wontmind).
16 CREATIVE WAYS TO MAKE BUG CRAFTS WITH KIDS The weather is warming up and the bugs have started crawling, flying, and buzzing around keeping my kids busy on bug hunts. (I like to keep all activities Mr. Tickles, age 1.5, is joining in safe to taste). I headed to the pantry and came up with MEASUREMENT GARDEN HANDS ON MATH ACTIVITY AND FREE PRINTABLE Tape the string to the matching labeled plastic bag. Continue until all the plants have been measured. My kids laid down next to the string to compare their height to the plants height. First we measured plants that were only inches tall with the ruler. Next we grabbed the measuring tape and measured out the plants that grow feet tall.
