March marks the return of geese, the flow of maple sap, and across the nation, the celebration of Leopold Week!Each year in the first week and weekend in March, organizations and individuals across the country come together to celebrate Aldo Leopold and a land ethic through community readings, film screenings, outdoor activities, and more. STILL SEARCHING FOR LEOPOLD'S VOICE During his years as a professor at the University of Wisconsin, Aldo Leopold gave a number of lectures that were broadcast over the university’s radio station. Many of these broadcasts from the years 1935 to 1945 were recorded on acetate-coated, glass “transcription disks,” an early recording medium that resembled heavy, 16-inchphonograph records.

Board president and Aldo Leopold Foundation executive director, Buddy Huffaker, joined the foundation 20 years ago as an intern. His academic background is in landscape architecture and plant ecology, but he has also undertaken extensive professional development in fundraising, management, and finance. STILL SEARCHING FOR LEOPOLD'S VOICE During his years as a professor at the University of Wisconsin, Aldo Leopold gave a number of lectures that were broadcast over the university’s radio station. Many of these broadcasts from the years 1935 to 1945 were recorded on acetate-coated, glass “transcription disks,” an early recording medium that resembled heavy, 16-inchphonograph records.
