SIZE: Adult male wolves in Alaska weigh from 85-115 pounds, but sometimes reach 145 pounds. Females are 5-10 pounds lighter than males and rarely weigh more than 110 pounds. While we always hope wildlife in Alaska can stay wild, situations arise where they need our help and we are happy to serve alongside agencies like the Alaska Department of Fish and Game and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. VOLUNTEER — THE ALASKA ZOO Opportunities are available for ages 16 and older only, no exceptions.. Attend the New Volunteer Orientation. New volunteers are required to give 15 hours in the petting zoo and 20 hours total in the first two months of volunteering, prior to permanent admission into the program.. We are not processing card or cash transactions at the gate, so those without zoo memberships must purchase tickets online before visiting.
