The next meeting of the Milton Keynes Aviation Society is a change from the originally planned event. Jean Yates - The Met Office and D-Day Central Forecasting Office moved to Dunstable in 1940 and remained there until 1961. Forecasters were secretly told at 0800hrs the bombing targets planned for the next 24hours. They kept in contact with the aircraft until the last one had landed, constantly planning winds and rewriting their charts. It was the Chief Met Officer’s job to persuade Eisenhower to postpone D-Day and make perhaps the most important forecast in history All meetings are held in the Kents Hill Community Centre, Frithwood Crescent, Kents Hill, Milton Keynes, MK7 6HQ. Doors open at 7.30 p.m. and lectures begin at 8.00 p.m. For more details contact our Lectures Organiser Ian Carr E-mail: iancarruk@aol.com or Tel (Home): 01234 742057 ... See MoreSeeLess
