HOW I SMOTHER WEEDS WITH NEWSPAPER First, water the bed deeply. Then lay paper directly atop the weeds, and in-between the ornamental plants. This young, aristocratic Baptisia heaved a sigh of relief when I approached him with newsprint in hand. Said he: “No longer shall I endure the common, weedy HAND SANITIZER (WHO FORMULA) Hand Sanitizer (WHO Formula) To make 1 1/3 cups of hand sanitizer, mix up the following in a 2 cup glass measure: 1 cup 99% isopropyl alcohol OR 1 cup plus 4 teaspoons 91% isopropyl alcohol. 1 tablespoon of regular 3% hydrogen peroxide. YESTERDAY, I took freshly-cut chives, and processed them together with garlic, almonds, Parmesan cheese and a little olive oil. The result? Well, let's just say that after one bite, my eyes rolled to the back of my head. After two bites, I knew I'd have to share the recipe withyou:

Earlier this season we enlarged the patio and built a pergola there. Also, we hid the roll-up door on our no-car garage. Just look at the weeds growing along a pea-gravel path in my Herb Garden.These were photographed yesterday afternoon, just moments before I sprayed them with cheap, straight-from-the-bottle, store-brand white vinegar. WOODCHUCK (GROUNDHOG) REPELLENTS THAT WORK Woodchucks loathe hot pepper! Ground cayenne pepper. I applied this in the same manner as for the red pepper flakes. Easy-peasy. I applied the garlic/pepper flakes/cayenne on a daily basis for one week. Afterwards, I made daily applications of only cayenne pepper. Cayenne seems an effective repellent all by itself. AFRICAN VIOLETS: HOW TO ACHIEVE CONSTANT BLOOM Watering. Use only room-temperature (or slightly warmer) water. You can water from the top or the bottom; sometimes bottom watering is easier because of spreading leaves. To water from below, fill a saucer or bowl with one inch of water, and let the plant absorb all of the moisture it can for exactly 30 minutes. HOW TO REMOVE BAKED-ON GREASE FROM STAINLESS STEEL How I Removed Baked-On Grease from a Stainless Steel Skillet. First, I turned the pan upside down in my kitchen sink, and sprayed it with plain water. Then I sprinkled the cleanser over the bottom and sides of the skillet. YESTERDAY, I took freshly-cut chives, and processed them together with garlic, almonds, Parmesan cheese and a little olive oil. The result? Well, let's just say that after one bite, my eyes rolled to the back of my head. After two bites, I knew I'd have to share the recipe withyou:
THE EASY WAY TO AGE A NEW CEMENT STATUE In the bowl or bucket, mix together water, bonding agent and pigment. 1. Spray a small area of the statue with water. Pre-wetting will keep the color-solution from soaking in too fast, and causing blotchy areas. 2. Dip the paintbrush into the color-solution, and apply the CINNAMON SWIRL RAISIN BREAD Place the cylinder seam-side-down in a lightly-greased 9x5-inch loaf pan. Lightly spray the top of the dough with vegetable spray, and then loosely cover with cling film. Let rise until doubled in volume -- 30-45 minutes. Halfway through rising time, center the oven rack and preheat the oven to 425°F. CRISPY ORANGE JUICE WAFFLES Preheat the waffle iron. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, cornstarch, and orange zest. In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, orange juice, sugar, and oil. Tip the dry ingredients into the wet, and whisk or stir until the ZUCCHINI JACK CASSEROLE Center the oven rack, and preheat the oven to 350°F. Slice the zucchini into 1/4-inch-thick rounds. In the large mixing bowl, beat eggs, milk, salt, baking powder and flour until smooth. Then stir in the parsley, garlic, onion, chiles, cheese, and zucchini. Pour into the greased baking dish.
