SAAP asks for a minimum donation at the time of the adoption. This request is always $300 or less (usually $150 – $250). We are required to collect sales tax on adoptions in the state of Kentucky. Coming Soon. SAAP pulls pregnant dogs and cats from shelters and allows them to have their last litter of puppies/kittens in our program. Once the puppies/kittens are old enough, they are all spayed/neutered and able to be adopted. The mama is also then spayed and adoptable. In The News. Olive was found living in the woods. She was very underweight and gave birth to a litter of pups that very night. She weighed less than 25lbs at the time of rescue and was covered in scrapes and wounds. Her 4 beautiful pups were adopted to wonderful homes, and then it was Olive’s turn. VOLUNTEER OR FOSTER

All adoptable pets are spayed/neutered, micro chipped, up to date on vaccines, dewormed, flea and tick medication applied, and ready to go home with you when you meet them. We ask that you submit an adoption application. We will review and approve/deny your application in a timely manner. Once your application is approved, we will schedule a “Meet and Greet” appointment. Often times this is scheduled at the start of one of our regular adoption events. Frequently, we can make arrangements to meet at times/dates other than our usual events. At the “Meet and Greet” you will have time to make the final decision as to whether you wish to adopt the pet. If indeed you do make the decision to adopt the pet, there is a basic pet adoption contract to complete. The SAAP personnel that is assisting with your pet adoption will be happy to review the contract with you. SAAP does promote life long adoptions. In the unforeseen instance that you must surrender the pet, you must return the pet to SAAP. It is unfortunate, but we cannot return your adoption donation.

VOLUNTEER OR FOSTER
Foster Application Volunteer Application Fill out the on line application located in the FORMS menu above OR BY CLICKING THE LINKS above. One of our volunteers will get back with you as quickly as possible about your inquiry.If you are interested in volunteering or fostering, please complete the application form (located in the drop down menu under “Forms” above) Foster homes are needed for dogs and cats in need of a loving home until they can find their FOREVER home. Every pet is fostered until it is adopted. If you are interested in fostering or would like to learn please complete the Volunteer/Foster application. All we ask is you bring your foster to an adoption event each weekend. We take care of all the medical needs for your foster. Your foster will be spayed/neutered, vaccinated and dewormed prior to coming into your home. Your foster will be microchipped. All dog fosters (unless specified) are heartworm negative and all cats are feline aids and leukemia negative. Do you have room in your home and heart for a special needs dog? These dogs have had a horrible life up to this point. We need to help them learn how to become family members. We also need volunteers to help with fundraising, food drives and grooming.
