HLOBANE COAL MINE INFORMATION AND PHOTOS Hlobane Colliery, of the Vryheid (Natal) Railway Coal and Iron Company Ltd, is a coal mine in the magisterial district of Vryheid, Natal, producing coal from three economic seams in the Ecca Group: the Dundas, Gus, and Alfred seams. ABDON (BROWN CLEE) OTHER ROCK QUARRY INFORMATION AND PHOTOS Abdon Quarry, Brown Clee Hill. Great remains here of a Timber and Concrete Loading / Mill and a fabulous Stone Built Crusher House. The loading area is constructed of Concrete verticals and timber cross beams, nice to see surviving timbers still in place. Quarrying was for a long time the main income of the area, and it was widely known as a LOSCOE COAL COLLIERY INFORMATION AND PHOTOS Loscoe Coal Colliery (United Kingdom) This was sunk by Goodwin and Griffin in the early 1830's to work the Deep Hard and Deep soft seams. BWLCH Y RHIW LEAD MINE INFORMATION AND PHOTOS Bwlch Y Rhiw Lead Mine (United Kingdom) Up the hill from the very isolated chapel are two trial levels, one either side of the very picturesque stream. The western trial is fenced off and thigh deep in chilling water. It meanders through the rock past a wet stope, taking a turn and ending in a clean dig face. CREIGIAU LADIES LEAD MINE INFORMATION AND PHOTOS Creigiau Ladies (Bwlch-Y-Rhiw Mine) Lead Mine (United Kingdom) Creigiau ladies is a wet level with no real sign of any mineral veins. After a hundred meters at a meandering heading of 130 degrees the mine stops. This is the corner of the mine managers office. It was split in 2 parts and my grt granparents lived on the the left and my grandparents with my mum and uncle lived on the right. These trees where what my grandad planted and was some of there garden (Fionah1973)
