THE LORD’S PRAYER
The chairperson asks that we close the meeting with the Lord’s Prayer. We stand, we hold hands and I do as I have done for years – I do not say the prayer. The author, Richmond Walker, sought neither profit, nor recognition, for his efforts. He assembled his devotional reader in keeping with the best of the spirit of Alcoholics Anonymous, the desire to help others. Each of the reader’s 365 pages is composed of an AA Thought for the Day, a Meditation for the Day, and a Prayer for the Day.THE LORD’S PRAYER

EMOTIONAL SOBRIETY
Emotional sobriety comes from our reaction, not from the circumstances, desires, or cravings. Learning to be emotionally sober requires us to first be aware of our emotions, to be mindful. Many of us learned to bury our emotions in a sea of alcohol during ourdrinking years.
THE WASHINGTONIAN SOCIETY Demise and Lessons for AA. As quickly as it had come about, so did it dematerialize. “By 1845, the Washingtonian movement’s energy was spent. Almost none of the Washingtonian Societies were active beyond 1847, with the exception of those in Boston.” (Dragon, p. 19) Even to this day, some mystery surrounds the downfall. WITHOUT A HIGHER POWER It was a notch or two up from just not-drinking, but good ways from honest self-reflection and growth. Meetings in my area are fairly homogenous, with a healthy dose of Higher Power and almost all ending with the Lord’s Prayer. There is little talk of being agnostic or atheist, and no meetings openly hospitable to non-believers. AA SPIRITUAL AND RELIGIOUS The fellowship and program of Alcoholics Anonymous can be legitimately described as broadly religious and also spiritual in nature, in my opinion, but its liberal principles and suggestions allow its individual members to relate to it in a non-religious, humanistic sense if they so wish. THE FRAUD THAT IS AA FUNDAMENTALISM The Fraud That Is AA Fundamentalism. by Bob K January 03, 2016 AA History, Previously Featured Stories 19896. By bob k. It may be that Alcoholics Anonymous has never been more polarized than it is in the mid-teens of the new millennium. A consolation is that there was another time of great divisiveness. Good God! NOT JUST THE WASHINGTONIANS Part One. By bob k. There exists a mythology which has been perpetrated and perpetuated by those who take pleasure in perpetrating and perpetuating mythologies – Regarding the treatment of alcoholism, the pre-AA world was one of darkness, total blackness, a vacuum, a void. Not only had human power efforts done poorly, they hadfailed completely.

FEATURED STORY
SHARING – REALITY BASED ALCHEMY by John Huey March 15,2020
Just taking the first free breath at a recovery meeting can be liberating. A second breath, at a Secular Recovery meeting, often involves an exhalation of words and phrases where both thought and expression is freed from any intimations of the divine and the implied restrictions, often encountered elsewhere, of someone else’s arbitrary list of “things to do” that… SUBSCRIBE TO AA BEYOND BELIEFEmail address:
