HISTORY - TANG NATIONAL SCHOOL The history of primary education in Tang dates back to 1858 with the establishment of the first Primary school for the area. The school was to serve the community of Tang for over 100 years and ceased to operate as a school in 1965 when it was replaced with a new school building on a site adjacent, St. Mary's National School, which opened in 1965 as a three-teacher school with three classrooms. Self Portraits from Senior Infants. To help us create these self portraits we used hand mirrors to check our face, eye, mouth and nose shapes. We also gave a lot of thought to the paints we used for our lips, eyes and hair before adding them. We had to mix them a lot to get the perfect shade. We think they have turned out pretty great. VISION, AIMS & OBJECTIVES St. Mary’s National School, is a caring and inclusive school, rooted in the local parish of Tang and serves the people of our community. It is a Catholic school that has been established with the Minister of Education having as it’s Patron Most Reverend Tom Deenihan, theBishop of Meath.
