RESIN CALCULATOR
Resin Calculator. Calculate how much mixed resin you need to fill a mold, bezel or coat a piece of artwork or tabletop with this resin calculator. Enter your dimensions below, then choose the appropriate units, either inches or centimeters. If trying to calculate the amount of resin to cover a flat surface such as a painting or countertop HOW TO GET STARTED WITH RESIN Purchase your resin supplies. In addition to the resin, you will need measuring cups, mixing utensils, and safety gloves to measure and mix the resin. You may also decide you want resin colors and resin molds to do your project. Here’s an extensive list of what you need to get started resin casting. HOW TO PAINT ON RESIN Tip 1: The easiest way to paint resin is to use a primer. Primers generally come in three colors: white and black being most common, and grey being a little more difficult to find. Selecting a primer color generally should be based on the color you are planning on painting on top of the primer. If you want to use darker colors, use a black CAN YOU PUT FRESH FLOWERS IN RESIN? Apply the spray in light coats, waiting 20 minutes to dry in between layers. Wait 24 hours after the final coat to let them thoroughly dry before including them in resin. Not only does this seal the flowers, but it also makes them stiffer and easier to handle. If you can’t get the sealer spray, apply a couple of layers of clear-drying white CAN YOU USE STICKERS IN RESIN? Step 2: Apply resin. I placed each sticker onto a piece of wax paper. After mixing the resin, I applied some to each of the stickers. When applying a doming resin, you will only want to apply enough to cover approximately half to two-thirds of the surface. Then use something like a toothpick to draw the resin out to the edges.SILICONE MOLD CARE
1. Store your silicone molds in a single, flat layer. Storing them in a pile may cause them to bend and warp. Once a silicone mold is warped, it cannot be undone. Hint: To create more storage space, use a piece of cardboard on top of a layer of molds to create a new storage layer. Be sure to evenly distribute the molds on the next layer. FIX HOLES AND DENTS IN RESIN Step 3: Sand down your surface if your holes are one-eighth inch or deeper OR plan on multiple pours. Since artwork resin wants to level to one-eighth of an inch, you will need to sand the artwork surface so the dents in your resin are under one-eighth of an inch. EPOXY RESIN OVERHEATED Something happened to me recently mixing resin that hasn’t happened in a long time. While resin getting hot is completely normal (and should happen to make sure resin cures), my epoxy resin overheated and cured in its cup in about 90 seconds. Yes, it IS RESIN SUITABLE FOR OUTDOOR USE? In a short answer, yes, but here’s what you should know first: 1. The resin will eventually yellow. It’s hard to know exactly when that will be, but it is accelerated with UV light exposure. 2. The resin may not be flexible enough to bend with the sign. As the temperature changes and wood expands and contracts, the resin may notfare so
