HIKING HOT SPRINGS NATIONAL PARK: THE GOAT ROCK TRAIL The Goat Rock Trail is a one-way, out-and-back trail in the central part of Hot Springs National Park. Although the trail is typically reached via the North Mountain Loop, it connects to many of the other trails in the park. HOHOKAM PIMA NATIONAL MONUMENT: THE NATIONAL PARK SITE WE Hohokam Pima National Monument was established by Congress on October 21, 1972, to protect an ancient Hohokam village known today as “Snaketown.”. Like many of Arizona’s archaeological sites, excavations began in the 1930s and again in the 1960s by Euro-American settlers and researchers. THE BEST HIKING TRAILS IN MISSISSIPPI NATIONAL RIVER AND The Gorge/Where the Rivers Meet (River Mile 852 to 843) — After the Milling District, the river enters the Mississippi River Gorge that extends to its confluence with the Minnesota River at Fort Snelling. This is the section of river and hiking trails we spend most of our time on. The Working River (River Mile 840 to 833) — From near downtown St. Paul (where our home is) the river begins OUR 8 DAY GRAND CANYON AND ZION NATIONAL PARK ROAD TRIP Year after year Grand Canyon and Zion are two of the most popular national parks. Last year a combined 10.75 million people visited the two parks (check out the list of Top 10 Most Visited National Parks).. That means crowds can be a big factor. GREAT NATIONAL PARK DRIVES: GENERAL'S HIGHWAY IN SEQUOIA The General’s Highway spans 32.5 miles (53.2 km) north and south in central California. Dedicated in 1935, the road was built to connect visitors with an easier route to see the giant trees in the area. The original construction cost $2.25 million. By the 1940’s Giant Forest and General Sherman Monuments changed to present-day King’s HIKING LITTLE HORSE TRAIL TO CHICKEN POINT, SEDONA AZ The Trailhead. The trailhead for LIttle Horse Trail and Chicken Point can be found at the junction of Routes 89A and 179 south of Sedona. The Trailhead Parking is a paved turnout and parking area on the east side of the road at milepost 309.8. The trailhead has a large parking area, although it’s our understanding that depending on the season it can fill very quickly. THE NIGHT PROGRAM AT MOUNT RUSHMORE The night program at Mount Rushmore is held in the Lincoln Borglum Visitor Center amphitheater each night from late May through September. Check the park newspaper or at the Visitor’s Center help desk for the start time. Guests arrive early for the program for the best seats and from all over the world.
