GLOBAL HOMELESSNESS STATISTICS Over the 2016/17 period, 59,110 people were considered homeless, this is a 9% increase over the 2014/15 numbers. Homelessness among vulnerable groups has also increased by 75% since 2010 ( Shelter, 2019). On any given night, there are 4,000 people sleeping rough (Shelter, 2019).

THE CHALLENGE
Cancelling the Homeless World Cup Tournament means we’ve lost more than a sporting event. We’ve lost the stage in which we showcase the power of football to inspire and change lives. Our Street Football Partnersdeliver their
life-changing programmes on the ground. For thousands of people experiencing homelessness right now, that support is a lifeline. We want to have even greater impact around the world and give more support where it’s needed most. We want to reach more people in more countries, where we can help the most marginalised in society to regain hope and inspire change in their lives. HOMELESS WORLD CUP DAY 2020 This year, for the first time we will host a Homeless World Cup Day. July 5th will see a celebration of our work, the work of our Street Football Partners and their year-round activities. Throughout the day you’ll be able to access compelling stories from around the world as well as join in some fun challenges – all you need to do is join our Virtual Stadium (it’s free!), a place packed full of fun and engaging content. By joining the Stadium, you will become part of our virtual fan base, have exciting content delivered directly into your inbox, and the chance to help us continue our life-changing work. You will even get your own virtual seat! HOMELESS WORLD (KEPPY UPPY) CUP 2020 This year we were unable to bring our teams to the competition, so instead, we’re bringing the competition to them, in our very first Homeless World (Keepy Uppy) Cup! Involving 50 teams from around the world, 34 in the men’s competition and 16 in the women’s, this challenge will see individual players representing their teams across several rounds. The Homeless World (Keepy Uppy) Cup will launch on June. Games will kick will be available to watch across HWC Channels. The grand final will take place on Homeless World Cup Day, on July5th, 2020.
