Teach your fingers to read. You'll start out by getting the feel for the dot patterns of the braille cell. Then, you'll learn basic braille letters, numbers and punctuation. You'll also create braille labels you can use every day. As you progress, you learn short cuts for reading and writing braille (contracted braille). DEGREES OF VISION LOSS What does that number stand for? Well, it’s an actual measure of acuity, or the sharpness of your vision, from a distance of 20 feet.
