The dvla have written to me saying based on your recent medical results we are revoking your license and you must be abstinent from booze for a year. I leliterally have 2 or 3 beers a month. Hi guys, not specifically drink driving but I had my licence revoked in August 16 due to previous alcohol dependency. I was in a really bad relationship and going through a tough time and stupidly thought that binge drinking was the answer. Turns out ARRESTED 6 MONTHS AGO DRINK DRIVING I was arrested 6 months and 1 day ago, for suspicion of drink driving. I wrecked my van into a wall, and had a nasty cut to my lip so could not do a breathalyzer. I was given a blood test around 3+ hours after the accident, i sent off for my own blood to be tested, and it cameback with a BAC

I was in a really bad relationship and going through a tough time and stupidly thought that binge drinking was the answer. Turns out ARRESTED 6 MONTHS AGO DRINK DRIVING I was arrested 6 months and 1 day ago, for suspicion of drink driving. I wrecked my van into a wall, and had a nasty cut to my lip so could not do a breathalyzer. Had already got a D1, sent it off on day 2 and licence returned by day 9! Don't bother waiting for the D27. Get in early. Especially with the new lockdown looming. People keep saying DVLA are in a backlog and D1 forms from drunk drivers will end up at the bottom of their pile of things to do. 7 days mine took. Don't hang about. DDRS MAXIMUM BAN REDUCTION Feb 25, 2020. #3. The letter is clearly wrong, it is meant to say 18 weeks and that is what will be applied to your ban if you complete the course. The reductions are set in law as 3 months for a 12 month ban and UP TO 25% for bans above that. You can be sure that DVLA have the correct length of reduction recorded against your driving licence. They are now fully functional for everything except Instructions from DVLA to commence medicals! Albeit its its an occupational clinic so private. IS IT REALLY WORTH THE RISK? WELL THE SIMPLE ANSWER IS NO - NEVER!! If you drink and drive, not only are you jeopardising yourself, you are putting other road users at risk. Statistics produced by the Department of Transport show that in 2017 an estimated total of 290 people were killed and a further 8,370 people were injured on Greath Britain's roads as a result of accidents where at least one driver was over the legal drinkdriving limit.
Any amount of alcohol can affect a persons ability to drive a vehicle safely. Alcohol can also affect different people in different ways. You can be prosecuted for driving while unfit through drink or drugs even if the level of alcohol in your system does not exceed the legal limit if your driving was impaired due to alcohol or drugs. IF YOU HAVE BEEN DRINKING, DO NOT DRIVE!!! WHAT IS THE LEGAL DRINK DRIVING LIMIT WHAT IS THE DRINK DRIVING LIMIT IN ENGLAND & WALES, UK? The maximum BAC (_blood alcohol content_) limit in England & Wales is: 35 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath; or 80 milligrams of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood or 107 milligrams of alcohol per 100 millilitres of urine WHAT IS THE DRINK DRIVING LIMIT IN SCOTLAND, UK? The maximum BAC (_blood alcohol content_) limit in Scotland is: 22 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath; or 50 milligrams of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood or 67 milligrams of alcohol per 100 millilitres of urine WHEN CAN YOU BE BREATH TESTED If you are or have been driving, attempting to drive or in charge of a motor vehicle on a road or other public place the police can require you to take a preliminary road side breath test or other preliminarytest if:
* They reasonably suspect you have alcohol or drugs in your system or you are under the influence; or * They reasonably suspect you have committed a traffic offence whiledriving; or
* They reasonably believe you were involved in a road trafficaccident
It is an offence to refuse to co-operate with a road side breath test and anyone who does so will be arrested and required to provide an evidential breath, blood or urine sample.
FAILING TO PROVIDE A SPECIMEN Failing to provide an evidential breath, blood or urine sample when required to do so and without a reasonable excuse is a criminal offence that carries a harsher penalty than that of providing a sample that exceeds the legal limit. If convicted of failing to provide an evidential sample for analysis you will be classed as a high risk offender and you will have to take a medical arranged by the DVLA to prove you are fit to drive a vehicle and hold a driving licence once your disqualification is over. DRINK DRIVING PENALTIES Driving or attempting to drive a motor vehicle on a road or other public place while exceeding the legal limit or failing to provide a breath, blood or urine sample after driving or attempting to drive both carry a _mandatory minimum 12 months disqualification from driving_ and a fine. The penalties imposed upon conviction of driving with excess alcohol (_drink driving_) increase on a sliding scale in line with the level of alcohol present in a persons system at the time of the offence and / or the level of impairment. Magistrates refer to sentencing guidelines before deciding what sentence to impose. The exact sentence imposed will depend on the offence committed alongside any aggravating and/or mitigating factors surrounding each case.
