FIELD TRIP REQUEST FORM Submit this form to request a field trip at the Desert of Maine CHANGES AT THE STORE While we come to the Desert with a deep respect for its history and experience, when we turned to the store, we struggled with how to adapt it to our evolving vision of a place to celebrate art, nature, and community. In the end, we decided to keep the bones and start fresh with the inside. So, we have cleared out the store to make way for the its next incarnation. At last we have a date! We will open for tent camping June 15, 2019. Soon you will be able to make reservations on this website. (As stated previously, there will be no RV spots.) We are deep into phase 1 renovations, and we'd like to have it done before welcoming our first campers. We are expanding the tent spaces and gradually adding cabins - a few this season, a few next season.*

THE WOODS
Even though we’re located close to downtown Freeport, just a 20-minute drive to the center of Portland, and not far from some of Maine’s most beautiful beaches, our campground is nestled in the peace and quiet of a lush Maine forest. We have 23 tent sites (18 with water and electric). Each site has a picnic table and a fire pit ring. Brand new bathhouse. Firewood for sale. Dogs are welcome. Small trailers are OK, but, sorry, no RVs. Rare natural playground ready by August. The campsites are open!MORE INFO

THE BARN
The historic Tuttle barn is the first stop on our guided tour of the Desert. From it's legendary move to Freeport to it's posts and beams that date as far back as the 1700s, it is a structure emblematic of New England farming culture.
And as such, there are plans underway to preserve and renovate it to be a unique space for arts and events, making it the centerpiece of a thriving arts center accessible to anyone and everyone hungry for music, beauty, and creativity.LEARN MORE
